Welcome to the ECM 2011 website

The organisers would like to thank all participants of the 2011 European Combustion Meeting for their outstanding contributions

The Fifth European Combustion Meeting was held in Cardiff University from 28th June - 1st July 2011

Cardiff UniversityThe European Combustion Meeting provides the opportunity for scientists and engineers to submit contributions on all aspects of combustion science and technology. This will be the fifth in a series of biennial Meetings sponsored by the British section of the Combustion Institute, with offerings welcome from any area of combustion science. This can range from fundamental physical and chemical kinetics, laminar and turbulent flames, burner design and operation, combustion diagnostics, fuel variation, gasification, and pyrolysis to give just a few examples. The technical program of the meeting will follow the format established at previous events, and will consist of invited lectures and topical reviews to coincide with parallel sessions established for the presentation of posters, with all forums intended to motivate intellectual discussion. Papers will be selected on the basis of a one-page abstract, which can be submitted by following the instructions on the submissions page.

Message from the Chair

Professor A GriffithsThe British Section of the Combustion Institute under the auspices of the Federation of the European Sections of the Combustion Institute invite you to contribute and join us at the 5th European Combustion Meeting (ECM2011) which takes place at Cardiff University, the largest in Wales. The Meeting will take place from 29th June to 1st July 2011. Cardiff is the Welsh capital city and is one of the youngest in Europe, cosmopolitan in outlook catering for a very wide range of tastes in terms of culture, history and music. ECM 2005Louvan-la-Neuve, Belgium
ECM 2007Chania, Greece
ECM 2009Vienna, Austria

Cardiff will also be hosting the 1st Topical Workshop: 'Methods for model simplification, evaluation and improvement' as part of the European Cooperation in Science and Technology (cost) programme. This is being held in the School of Engineering building on Tuesday 28th June 2011.
